Since 2020, Co-Principal Investigators Dr. Kristen Haase (RN PhD, UBC), Dr. Caroline Marino (MD, BC Cancer) and Ms. Bonnie Leung (NP, BC Cancer) have been working together to bring awareness to the needs for geriatric oncology services in British Columbia.

Cancer is most common in older adults. International guidelines – including those from the American Society of Clinical Oncology – indicate that all older adults should have a geriatric assessment and management prior to making a cancer treatment decision. Although these specialized clinics exist elsewhere in Canada, there are no formalized clinics within British Columbia.

The ACCESS Research Lab brings together research interests, scientists and students across the broad spectrum of aging and cancer care research.
